Great golf. Great friends. Red rock views.

Sky Mountain Back 9 Gals is a welcoming 9-hole league for women of every age and ability. Whether you're picking up a club for the first time or you've played all your life, there's a spot for you in our group.

About Us

Who we are

We're a group of women, from our 30s to our 70s and beyond, who love golf, and love even more that it gives us a reason to get together. Our league plays nine holes each week at Sky Mountain, one of southern Utah's most scenic public courses, with the red cliffs and Pine Valley Mountains as a backdrop.

Some of us learned the game last year. Some of us have played for forty. Every week has a relaxed format so beginners feel at ease, with a little friendly competition for seasoned players. Nobody gets left behind, and everybody gets a cheer.

  • Beginners and lifelong golfers play side by side
  • Relaxed play: nine holes, putt to the cup or pick it up if you've had enough, just keep up with the group in front of you please
  • Walk or ride, whichever feels best that day
  • Weekly 9-hole play with rotating games

FAQ

Questions we often hear

Do I need a handicap?

No. Many members don't have one. If you'd like one, we'll help you get set up with a handicap through the Golf Association.

What if I'm slow or a beginner?

Totally fine. We play fun, team-based formats, and we value a good time over a good score. Just keep up with the group in front of you.

Do I need to play every week?

No. Come when your schedule allows. Just let us know so we can plan pairings.

I haven't played in years (or I've never played). Is that okay?

Absolutely. Many of our members started later in life or came back to golf after a break. We'll show you the ropes, and there are no silly questions.

Is the course hard on my knees, back, or hips?

You choose. Riding in a cart is always an option, and many members alternate between walking and riding. Play only as much as feels good, and don't hesitate to pick up a ball and move on.

Can I walk or do I need a cart?

Either one. Carts are rented through the course, and walking is welcome.

What happens if it's too hot, windy, or rainy?

We'll email members if play is cancelled or tee times shift, especially during summer heat. You can cancel same day with the pro-shop if the weather is bad at no additional charge.

Can I bring a guest?

Yes. Friends are welcome to try a round as a guest before joining.
